  • Birthday: 1976-09-28
  • Kungfu:  MMA
Born on September 28 1976, Fedor Emelianenko is the current Strikeforce heavyweight champion specializing in Sambo and Judo.  He has been considered the top heavyweight fighter in the world over the last seven years, and some consider him to be the greatest pound-for-pound fighter of all time.

Emelianenko began training Sambo and Judo as a child, and was later involved in several major international competitions.  Later, he continued to hone his skills through Muay Thai and kickboxing training in order to become a more well-rounded fighter.  He had fought under virtually all the major MMA banners including Pride, Dream, and UFC, and had suffered only one professional loss – in controversial circumstances to Tsuyoshi Kohsaka.  Apart from that one defeat, Emelianenko has dominated the heavyweight division of MMA, often overpowering his opponents in spectacular fashion.  Some of his notable victories include those against former UFC champion Mark Coleman, Mirko “CroCop” Filipovic, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Matt Lindland.  He just lost to Antonio Silva by TKO on February 12th, Strikeforce Heavyweight World Grand Prix. And he hinted at retirement after his loss.

Fedor Emelianenko currently resides in Russia with his wife, Marina.  He has 2 daughters and continues to be heavily involved in Russian sports and development.
